Nancy Civetta

Nancy Civetta founded Civetta Comunicazioni, focusing on public relations in the culinary and hospitality industries, in 1999. She had become enthralled with learning about the environmental issues that affect the foodservice industry and soon turned this newly obtained knowledge into an expertise in culinary sustainability: a unique niche in public relations.

This once avant-garde specialty is now a hot topic of conversation on the front pages of national publications and in television exposés. Her company is an excellent resource in the field. Nancy is perhaps best known for her communications work in the seafood industry, having helped shape brands and create market demand for sustainable seafood, while educating the media and greater culinary community in the process.

Nancy has extensive experience with national and international communications. Before Civetta Comunicazioni, she had been a language consultant and interpreter in Florence, Italy, for thirteen years. She served in the language services departments of World Cup USA 1994 and the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games in 1996. She speaks fluent Italian and boasts dual citizenship in the U.S. and Italy.

Nancy is an avid long distance open water butterfly swimmer and loves to cook and eat pasta at least once a day to feed her habit. Her company philosophy around sustainability carries over into her home life. She feels that it is important to know the source of your food and is on a personal crusade to educate her family. She’s already convinced her father, who is an M.D. Now she is focusing on her eleven nieces and nephews so that they will lead long and healthy lives. Nancy considers Wellfleet, Massachusetts, of oyster fame, her home.
